Consequences

Tyler was a brat to say the least yesterday. I took him to Chuck-E-Cheese and he wasn't very nice when he was able to pick out a prize with his tickets. So....we left...without a prize. And when we got home he received a tough consequence.
The one thing we've realized that works is we take Tyler's cars and trucks away for the day. You would think the whole world was coming to an end. He LOVES his cars and trucks. We have races and monster truck shows every day.
It was pretty sad to see him mope around; lost without his favorite things. He's allowed to play with his other toys, but he doesn't want them nearly as much.
After dinner, we were laying on the floor playing with his dinosaurs. He told me we needed to set up the dinosaurs like a track so they could have a race. It made me laugh. He wanted so badly to have his cars back that he pretended his dinosaurs were the cars.
Tyler woke up this morning and said "Mommy, I was a good listener! Can I have my cars back?!" He was much better and now he is playing with his cars and trucks again. Life is back to normal ;)
